There is nothing earth shaking in this booklet. It seems to reiterate a lot of what has already been published about complementary therapies but it has created an uproar. I bet you can't guess who from.

Part of the intent of the publication seems to be to get patients to inform their doctors about their use of complementary therapies. Apparently some of the medical profession would prefer not to acknowledge the existence of complementary therapies much less trouble the doctor with this form of craziness.

It is encouraging to see this development. However the one thing I find curious is that Prince of Wales's Foundation For Integrated Health hasn't really pursued the scientific on reflexology with a little more vigor. They cite a PMS and headache study. Also there is a short reference on multiple sclerosis.

"A guideline for the treatment of multiple sclerosis, issued by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence, says that there is some evidence to suggest that reflexology might be of benefit for people with the condition."

With HRH reputation on the line you would think that they would seek some of the higher quality research such as the Austrian studies. With a good mechanism of action argument and research to back it up they could have there enemies for breakfast. Oh well.

The lack of science behind the warning on pregnant women is staggering. the Association of Reflexologist have a much better position on this issue.

Nothing earth shaking here but it is a historical moment.
