Reflexology charts and maps Why do they differ?

After all isn't this like an anatomical chart?

...Reflexology charts are more about connections between body parts versus anatomical structures.

A common question we receive is why reflexology charts differ. After all isn't this like an anatomical chart? Not really.

Reflexology charts are more about connections between body parts versus anatomical structures. So that presents the first hurdle in compatibility.

Also reflexology charts come from different directions.

We use the reiterative approach. Our reflexology charts mirror the body parts on the feet and hands. For a full explanation see The Complete Guide to Foot Reflexology.

But others are aimed at an energy model like acupuncture so the areas reflect more of a meridian approach. So there are so overlapping with reiterative charts but there are differences.

There are also charts I call empirical charts. These are charts that gather from personal experiences of the reflexologists. A person has a certain condition and the reflexologist finds a sore area in the feet and hands so they mark it out on the reflexology chart they construct.

I think all these charts have merit. Someday it will be interesting to use technology like a functional MRI or thermography to hone in on more exacting reflexology maps.

But there could be a problem. Some of these reflexology maps reflect structure while others reflect function. How do you address this problem when designing the one reflexology map or chart? Maybe there isn't such a thing.

And by the way there is another type of reflexology map. There is a reflexology map which is simply an artistic representation and doesn't attempt to be accurate. It just looks very pretty. Or some are even for humorous effect.
