Nose on the Toe

I'm a reflexology student and three of my "clients" had extremely heavy callusing on the upper, medial portion of their big toes. Not down in the neck reflex area, but higher. ... all three of them had suffered and been treated for a deviated septum.

My arches have fallen and I can't get them up

A high arch can develop what is called a "foot fault" and collapse in response to stress. The change of weight bearing that goes on during a pregnancy is just the sort of demand that can cause this problem.

Sensitive feet

I always say you shouldn't fly solo. I tell people that areas being sore is not always a sign of ill health.... But since these stress cues have persist it is not a bad area to get a check up.

Crystals in the heart area

Charts aren't all the answer. When you say there are "stress cues" in the heart area that does not account for the areas in the upper back as well. An injury to the upper back may reflect similar stress cues.

Re: Foot surgery and reflexology

In reflexology theory anything in the same zone can effect another part of the zone. I can't give you any research to back this up.... but the theory seems to hold up over the thirty odd years I have done reflexology.

...I didn't make the connections until years later while doing reflexology. The toe had actually been compressed into what we consider the shoulder area.

Your operation is in the region of the upper back and shoulder region.

...There are years of research and study ahead of us but I think after awhile mysteries like you described will become clearer.

Odema and reflexology

A client who suffers oedema of the ankles due to inguinal node damage has recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She has been prescribed Zyprexa but it is causing weight gain and frequent oedema. She has fortnightly visits to the Dr. The weight gain is bothering her at the moment as is the oedema. I was wondering how frequently I could use reflexology on her for the oedema.

...I would think quite frequently unless there is another condition that would require caution. The other key question is how is the kidney area. The lymphatics can carry the fluid out but the kidneys are necessary to expel the excess fluid.

...She can help with self help as well.... Have her grasp with her fingers the swollen part of the ankle, Then have her rotate her foot. This applies pressure to the foot in an easy way.

...Because you can frequently see results right away it is self rewarding.
