Sensitive Feet
The smallest of smooth little pebble will bring
great pain.... What does this problem suggest and what would you recommend I do
to improve my tolerance.
My feet hurt terribly when I walk
barefooted. The smallest of smooth little pebble will bring great
pain. I am 74 and have had this problem my whole life. What does
this problem suggest and what would you recommend I do to improve my
tolerance. Thank-you

Dear
D.,
So sorry this has taken so long.
We are in the final stages of a book production so regretfully my email has
suffered.
I would take
your foot sensitivity too seriously. People have different sensitivity levels.
It depends on a lot of factors. Like how heavy a foot do you have and how thick
is the tissue. If the pebble doesn't have much to keep it from hitting bone the
foot is going to be
sensitive.
Now having
said that this is an easy fix. Start out with a fairly new tennis ball (that so
it is nice and fuzzy). Roll it of a carpet and apply just enough pressure that
it feels good but is within your comfort zone. Gradually build up the pressure
as you can tolerate it. Slowly the tissue will start to feel less
sensitive.
This has a couple
effects. It stimulates the bottom of the foot. This is very good for all of us.
Particularly as we get older the foot loses communication with the brain and the
brain loses connection with feet. This helps reconnect. It also is a great way
to reduce stress. The feet help set the tension level for the rest of the body.
Relax the feet you relax the
body.
If the sensitivity
does bother you have it checked out. I just don't what you to think that
by reflexology standards that is all that
unusual.
Hope that
helps.
All the
best,
Kevin
