How to Give a Half Decent Foot Rub
by Kevin Kunz
Reflexology is wonderful and very therapeutic. But there is a lot to be said for a good old fashioned foot rub. It feels great. Causes a very nice relaxation response. And it is easy to learn. Try these 5 easy steps.

1. Remember this should be relaxing and not challenging. Go with what feels good. Always stay in their comfort zone and never inflict pain. If if hurts it should "hurt good". Actually people will describe the feeling this way. Some people describe it as an itch that needs scratching.

Warming the foot helps as well. Gentle squeezing helps the blood to move. It also eases the sensitivity.

2. Simple traction is an easy way to decompress the foot. Start by decompressing the ankle. Grasp the ankle with one hand and wrap the other hand around the inside ball of the foot. Now pull both hands toward you and hold briefly.

Then decompress the the toes by gently lifting up on each. You know . Play "this little piggy' slowly with a slight but firm traction.

3. Rotating the ankle works all four major muscle groups down from the leg. It eases the tension not only in the foot but leg as well.

Take the foot in your hand and wrap your one hand around the ankle. With the other hand gently wrapped around the inside of the foot about at the "bunion joint area". Now slowly rotate the foot. First rotate it clockwise then rotate it counterclockwise.

4. I am from the Rub it School . It means just rub it. Use your intuition and go with what seems to please. Stroking is good. Pressing in with your thumb or fingers feels good. Press with the thumb and release anywhere that feels good.

If you are ambitious try taking several fingers and gently work the joints on the top of the foot. Use your sense of touch to figure out where the stress has accumulated.

5. Squeezing the foot helps blood flow and can feel great. Place one hand around the top of the foot and make a fist with the other hand. Place the fist against the ball of the foot. Push straight in with your fist. and squeeze with the top hand. Do this several times if desired.

Try this as a gift, a thank you or a way of saying I care. It is usual well received. It is a great way to show appreciation.

Learning more such as reflexology technique gets even more praise and appreciation when you do it in addition to a half decent foot rub.

Please pass this on to someone you know can use it.
