ANALYSIS OF 8096 CLINICAL CASES AND FOOT REFLEXOLOGY

A recent analysis of 8,096 clinical cases by Dr. Wang Liang reported in the 1996 China Reflexology Symposium Report of the China Reflexology Association found foot reflexology to be 93.63% effective in treating 63 disorders.

Dr. Liang found that foot reflexology proved to be:

Significantly effective (cure) in 48.68% of all cases

Effective or improvement in 44.95%

No effect in 6.37%

Dr. Liang found foot reflexology to be:

100% effective in treating seven disorders

significantly effective 50% or more of the time for twenty-two disorders

90% effective for forty-five of the disorders

Criteria for Evaluation

The criteria for evaluation of clinical effect followed the three grades typical of modern medicine:

1. Cure or significantly effective: "A disease disappears or does not recur in a relatively long time."

2. Improvement or effective: "Most of symptoms disappear or partly disappear and the patient feels the symptoms are ameliorated and markedly improved.... If treatment stopped, the original symptoms and signs may recur."

3. No effect or ineffective: "There is no improvement of the symptoms and signs of a disease or, the improvement is very insignificant."
